Born in South Africa, Leza studied Bachelor of Commerce in Financial
Accounting at the University of Pretoria and completed her articles at a
small auditing firm in her hometown of Krugerdorp. It was when she
joined Deloitte’s that she was motivated again to continue her studies
and completed her Honours Degree part time at the University of South
Africa. She met Darren at Deloitte’s and was instantly mesmerised by his
stories from countries far away. Upon leaving Deloitte’s she worked for
Anglo American Research Laboratories until they married in 2003 and
relocated to Geneva, Switzerland to enjoy the trials and tribulations of
furnishing an IKEA home and survived to tell the tale. It was Darren’s
work that took them to Geneva and within 6 months Darren earned a
promotion which meant moving back to South Africa… Upon return to South
Africa, Leza was self-employed and did accounting work for a few small
clients. It was during this time that she was offered the position of
Treasurer at the Lonehill Methodist Church (now Gracepoint Methodist).
It was such a blessed time – the church originally started with only 5
members meeting in a school hall and expanded to over 500 members
needing a church building. Leza was involved in the Capital Campaign
required to raise the necessary funding for this project. Prior to the
commencement of the actual building, Leza decided to step down from her
role and focus on motherhood. The arrival of their long awaited, miracle
baby, was the determining factor. It is during this time that Leza
became an External Marker at the University of South Africa. The marking
of accounting papers was only required twice a year and it gave her the
flexibility that she required. In 2013 the Sack Family relocated to the
United Kingdom. Again, it was Darren’s work that initiated the move.
Throughout the move the hand of God was always very visible and Leza
found comfort in the words from Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for
the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Leaving family is
never easy, but by the Grace of God they found Christ Church Virginia
Water and immediately felt at home amongst fellow believers. It is at
Christ Church that they have made friends that have become like family.
Leza volunteered at Christ Church Infant School and also at Toddler
Group at Christ Church Virginia Water for 3 years. During 2016 she took
up part time employment at Christ Church Infant School in the office. It
was with the recent passing of her Dad that she decided that the time
has come to return to her accounting roots... it just felt right…
honouring her Dad for his hard work in providing her with an education.
And what better place to do this than the church! Leza started her role
as Finance Administrator in July 2018 and is looking forward to the
future within the church family!
