Children’s & Family Ministry

???????????????????????????????

Our Children’s Ministry is a thriving area of our Church with many local families supporting and serving in our children’s activities with Sunday Clubs, two weekly Parent & Toddler Groups and lots of family events throughout the year.

Our Children’s Ministry Ethos

We are a community of believers which teaches and models how to follow Christ. Our mission is to support parents who wish to lay down a foundation that in time will lead a child into a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We aim to partner with parents in communicating the greatness of God, the glory of Christ and the power of the Gospel.

With that in mind we teach:

  • that the Bible is the word of God and the handbook for life
  • who God is
  • who we are in relation to Him and our state of separation from Him through our sin
  • who Jesus is and what He has done for us
  • how we can meet with God daily through readng His word and prayer
  • the role of the Holy Spirit in equipping us to live for God

Our ministry to children is based on the principles that it is Bible-centred, child-targeted, fun, safe, life-relevant and age-appropriate.

Our aim is to provide the best hour of every child’s week; we pray that the impact of the ministry will last the other 167 hours!

Our Sunday Clubs

Our youngest members, from 0 – 5 can go into Sunday Clubs from the beginning of the service at 10:30. Older children join the first 10 minutes or so of our Sunday services before, if they wish, joining our Sunday Clubs for 5 – 11s. These run every Sunday at 10:40 except the first Sunday of the month when there is an exciting All Age Service.

Little Gems (Crèche)

Our crèche welcomes children up to their second birthday. Volunteers look after the babies in a caring Christian atmosphere. There are plenty of toys and books to keep them entertained. If your child does not settle you are welcome to stay with them until they do.

Stepping Stones (Walkers to 5s)

The children in Stepping Stones begin and end their sessions with free play. This is an important time of relationship building for leaders and children alike. This is followed by a more formal teaching time with a Bible story which may be read, told or acted out. The story is usually followed up with craft and worship through singing and praying. The 3-5s are encouraged to join all activities. For the very young there is the opportunity to engage on a one to one basis as a leader gets alongside them.

We teach basic truths about God and His desire to have a relationship with them. Learning about God is focused on their world showing them that God made the world and everything in it. We want to give the children a glimpse of the awesome majesty of God and help them to understand that He made them and loves them.

Trail Seekers (5-11s, UK School Years 1-6, US Grades K-5)

A Trail Seekers session usually starts with Bible teaching in large group time followed by the children breaking up into age related small groups for follow up when the teaching is applied to the children’s lives. Lessons are often tailor made to suit the needs of the group with ideas taken from a variety of sources and media. Where time permits at the end of the session the group will come together for games and quizzes again allowing time and opportunity for friendships to be built. On dry days the Vicarage garden is utilised!

Underlying all aspects of the work is our desire to help children understand their need of a Saviour and encourage them along the road to salvation wherever they may be on that journey.

All Age Services

Children are encouraged to get involved in our All Age Services in a variety of ways from being on the door to greet the congregation, reading from the Bible, taking part in drama and singing.
